Jamal Tisdale

Hip Hop Instructor

I  express life and emotions through southern grooves and street dance ability. As a native of Goose Creek, I found my passion for dance in High School. After graduation, I started my journey and began training and learning from choreographers such as Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo, Rhapsody James, Kevin Maher, and Marty Kudleka. I am an ambitious dancer and have been featured on MTV’s Sweet Sixteen (season 7 ep4), MTV’s Made (season11 ep12).  I have performed in many local events such as Charleston Food and Wine Festival, Charleston Fashion Week 2012, Kids Fair, benefits such as Dancefx Cancer Benefit, C of C Dance Marathon, as well as, other showcases. Currently I am teaching at Only Imagine Studio and Dancefx Charleston. I promote positivity and originality in my students through  concentration and emphasis on “living and dancing life as an art.”  In addition to my teaching credits, I founded my very own youth dance crew “We’re Not Human.”  I am proud to be a choreographer and member of various dance crews such as Rhode Island’s “Dexter’s Lab” (DXL) and South Carolina’s BBoy crew “The Missing Linkz.”  Most recently, I was promoted to CoDirector of Dancefx Charleston’s Slow Jamz HipHop Crew.  As a director, my choreographic works have been featured at The inaugural Charleston Dance Festival, DanceAthens Festival 2012, Jailbreak IV and Naughty New Year.  But the buck doesn’t stop there, I am also hard at work with some of the most talented entertainers in the Lowcountry to form an all encompassing supercrew, determined to lead the southeast in performance entertainment.
