Megan Victoria Vassar, was born in Charlotte, NC and been living in Charleston, SC for 24 years. Megan began her training at the age of 9, under Jean Louisa Steele and ‘Big Jean’ Steele at Dance Unlimited Studios. After the closing of Dance Unlimited in 1999, she made her home at Dance Explosion under direction of Barbara Musgrove, where she studied numerous genres of dance including: Jazz, Tap, Lyrical/Contemporary, Modern (Horton, Graham, Ailey), Ballet, Pointe, and Hip Hop. She actively competed with the Dance Explosion traveling competition team for 8 years, where she received several awards and scholarships, such as: ENCORE Youth Dance Ambassador 2004 & 2005, New York City Dance Alliance (NYCDA) Senior Studio Representative 2008, and Hollywood VIBE MSA Agency National Finalist. She has trained with several noted choreographers such as Tyce Diorigo, Mia Michaels, Desmond Green, Dena Rizzo, Charissa Seaman, Rustin Matthews, Nick Gonzales, Bobby Newberry, and Dale Lamb.
Megan also danced/performed as a member of the Fort Dorchester Dance Company throughout high school, paving the way as a collegiate dancer for the College of Charleston Cougarettes from 2008-2011. Megan has taught in several studios between Beaufort, Charleston, and Columbia, SC within the last 6 years, her specialty being Jazz and Contemporary movement. She has now split her passion between dancing professionally with Dance FX Charleston and the Charleston Dance Project, under direction of Jenny Broe; a hired performer under the Broe Works Agency; and finally as the lead competition instructor at Only Imagine Dance Studios in Goose Creek, SC.
